Henchgirl & Scout Comics: TV and Film Deals Coming … A Force to be Reckoned With

Henchgirl #1
Henchgirl #1

We actually recommended people to purchase and hold on to this quirky and fun comic book when it first released back in October 2015. Rumor had it that the story would be adapted to a TV show. Now, this rumor is becoming less of a rumor and more of reality. The writer and artist of this series, Kristen Gudsnuk, wrote on her website,, a few days ago:

2016-04-02 01_54_56-Henchgirl Comic -

One day later, Brendan Deenen, an executive editor, who shops TV and movie rights for writers, at Macmillan Entertainment,  tweeted the following:

2016-04-02 02_00_35-Brendan Deneen (@BrendanDeneen) _ Twitter

and then…

2016-04-02 02_02_07-Brendan Deneen (@BrendanDeneen) _ Twitter

Two tweets, back-to-back, regarding the same thing. Second tweet also includes CBR, Bleedingcool, Newsrama, Broken Frontier, and Comics Alliance in the message. So, we can suspect that whatever news is about to come is gonna be BIG!…I mean YUUUGE!!!

On top of all this, if you check out the Scout Comics website you will see this:

TV & Film — Scout Comics

Scout Comics is not just a comic book publisher, but the company is in the multimedia entertainment industry. So, the business is well connected with all the TV and film studios listed above…definitely a force to be reckoned with in the comic book entertainment industry.

As we can see, all evidence points to Henchgirl becoming a TV Show. Grapevine buzz indicate an earlier-than-expected release of the TV series. So, go out and grab these books at cover price, while you can!

We recommend getting the first issue for obvious reasons, but if you cannot get your hands on the #1’s, then get whatever other issue(s) you can. Even the later copies are hard to find. The sixth issue comes out this coming Wednesday, and it’s already sold out at virtually all online stores. Good luck with finding these books!

Another point we’d like to make is that Henchgirl is not the only title that Scout Comics is currently developing. There are other very note-worthy titles under the Scout name, such as: SolarMan & Elasticator, which both have been receiving rave reviews from authorities in-and-out of the comic book industry. So, it would definitely be worth your time and some of your cash to grab some these books. We have faith that Scout Comics is publisher to be reckoned with in the near future – filled with investment and speculation opportunities.

Key Issues: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

For all of you who have been living under a rock and don’t already know, a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) movie will be arriving soon on June 3rd of this year. If you haven’t already seen the first TMNT movie, let me give you a word of advice: Don’t go see it. The movie really isn’t really that bad, however Megan Fox’s horrific acting was distracting throughout the whole film. Her bad acting was just so abysmal that it was extremely hard to ignore, although she does provide for nice eye candy in the film. Regardless, the movie surpassed financial expectations, so now they are making a sequel. I’m just crossing my fingers and praying to God that this movie is a gazillion times better than the predecessor.

Having said that, let’s take a look at the upcoming feature, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. Something that we can all anticipate are the new characters who are going to make introductions on the silver screen. Let’s see…there’s Casey Jones, Bebop and Rocksteady, Krang, Baxter Stockman, along with Karai, Shredder’s daughter. This provides for quite some speculation opportunities in the comic book markets…after all, this is why you are here reading this article, yes?

TMNT Adventures #1
TMNT Adventures #1

One of the main comic books that features the first appearance of Krang, along with Bebop and Rocksteady is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures #1 (Archie Comics), which is currently a book in the teens, if purchased raw. This book features three first appearances. If the upcoming movie should prove to be good, then these books will be in greater demand than where they are now.

Investment Tip: WWE Superstar Sheamus will be playing Rocksteady in the movie…buy this comic book get it CGC SS’ed. Not only would this be fun (meeting Sheamus), but getting his signature on a high-end condition book will pay dividends for your time and money.

Raphael #1
Raphael #1

The next big comic book, which is a must-have, is Raphael #1 (Mirage Studios). This book introduces Casey Jones, who plays a big part in the TMNT Universe. Stephen Amell, from Arrow, will be playing this character…supposedly April O’Neil’s (played by Megan Fox) love interest. Stephen has been known to travel around with WWE Superstars, appearing in a few WWE stints from time to time. If you are planning to get Sheamus’s autograph for TMNT Adventures #1, chances are that you will also be able to get Stephen Amell’s autograph on Raphael #1 at the same venue. Again CGC SS’ed at a high-end condition will reap rewards for your fun (or hard work, depending on how you look at it).

TMNT #2, 1st Appearance of Baxter Stockman
TMNT #2, 1st Appearance of Baxter Stockman

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #2 is the 1st appearance of Baxter Stockman, who is a main villain of the Turtles. He is the character, who creates Bebop and Rocksteady, and proves to be one of the Turtles’ most formidable arch-nemesis. This book is rare and hard-to-find and comes with a hefty price tag. If you can find copies in pristine or high-grade condition at a reasonable price, then whip out your credit card or cash and purchase these gems because they only come by once in a lifetime.

TMNT #53, 1st Appearance of Karai
TMNT #53, 1st Appearance of Karai

Our final key issue involves the first appearance of another crucial character in the TMNT Universe, Karai. Karai is Shredder’s daughter, who’s a badass feisty little brat, who will not take no for an answer and frequently wreaks havoc on the Turtles. Her first appearance takes place in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #53 (Mirage Publishing), which is a part of the City At War storyline. If you can get the whole City At War storyline, as a set, in tip-top condition…go for it. The set contains issues TMNT #50 – #62, the very last issues of TMNT under Mirage Publishing.

Again, I really hope this movie does really well not only in the box office, which it most likely will, but I also hope that it does well with the fans and movie-goers on June 3rd. Mark your calendars and get your comic books today! (Watching the movie is optional.)

Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. My Feeling and Quick Take on the Film

Watching this movie was pretty much like having a conversation with an interesting and mysterious person, except this person keeps changing the topic every five minutes. So, it’s almost like you want to know more about what’s being said, but as soon as you get to a hooking point, this person changes the topic. It’s just really hard to get engrossed or relate to the film because the scenes keep changing to show something else. The ending of the movie is when, for the most part, the scenes are shot continuously for longer than five minute intervals.

Warning: Contains minor spoilers for Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice

Although Darkseid does not officially make an appearance in the movie, multiple hints point to his coming in the very near future.

Any Wonder Woman key issue, including: All Star Comics #8, Sensation Comics #1, Sensation Comics #6, Wonder Woman #1, All Star Comics #36, Wonder Woman #85, & Wonder Woman #98

…any Aquaman key issue, including: More Fun Comics #73, Adventure Comics #229, Adventure Comics #260, Aquaman #1, & Showcase #30

…any Justice League key issue, including: Brave and the Bold #28 & Justice League #9.

Again, the Justice League does not make an official appearance in the film. But, we already know what’s about to come.

Overall, the movie was not as bad as the critics made it seem to be. I would give it a 6.5 out of a 10-point-scale. Go see it and form your own opinion. I’ve heard differing opinions from “It’s total GARBAGE!!!” all the way to “OMG! It was AWESOME!!!”. So, the verdict is still in the air. Until then, continue Comic Booking, COMICBOOKIES!
